XTide was designed for Unix and X11, not Microsoft Windows. If you want to try to use it under Windows anyway, there's a precompiled binary for the command-line client, and there are also some ports. However, these are all supported by their respective maintainers. Please route support questions accordingly.
Except for the contrib files that are external links, all of the following can be downloaded by anonymous FTP from ftp://ftp.flaterco.com/xtide/.
All data for the U.S. and associated locales available from the National Ocean Service web site as of 2009-12-22 have been imported. Stations in the Netherlands and U.K. are also included.
Data for locations outside of the U.S. are for non-commercial use only!
| file | built with | works with | description |
|---|---|---|---|
| harmonics-dwf-20100529-free.tar.bz2 | libtcd 2.2.4 | XTide 2.8+ | Public domain data for the U.S. |
| harmonics-dwf-20100529-nonfree.tar.bz2 | libtcd 2.2.4 | XTide 2.8+ | Restricted-use (non-commercial use only) data for locations outside of the U.S. |
| harmonics-dwf-20100529-SQL.tar.bz2 | Postgres 8.4.3 | Harmbase2 | Dump of Harmbase2 database (both free and nonfree data). |
| harmonics-dwf-20100529-legacy.tar.bz2 | restore_tide_db | nothing | Weak txt/xml rendering of the TCD files above. Not useful with XTide—provided only because of popular demand from other projects that cannot cope with TCD or SQL. Some non-constituent data are lost or damaged in the down-conversion. |
World Vector Shoreline data for optional use with XTide 2.5 or newer. 37 MB. If 37 megs is too much to download, you can download files individually and make do with the lower resolutions. Find the individual files in ftp://ftp.flaterco.com/xtide/wvs_unpacked/.
These files were published on the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) 5-Minute Gridded Global Relief Data CD-ROM (ETOPO5), 1993, and are public domain. They are available from NOAA at http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/global/relief/ETOPO5/BOUNDARY/WVS. Related information is available at http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/mgg/fliers/93mgg01.html. If the files are obtained from NOAA, the filenames must be changed to all lowercase letters to work with XTide.
